Come have a whale of a time in Nantucket

A whale of a time

Holidaymakers often dream of finding that special place, a destination that is in a world of its own.

Nantucket Island is such a place.

A unique, historic, and visually stunning location, Nantucket Island weaves a spell for the visitor – a time capsule of days gone by, old fashioned yet timeless.

Located thirty miles off the Massachusetts coast, the crescent-shaped Nantucket Island is a destination suitable for those looking for culture and relaxation as it offers wide sandy beaches that rival any found in the world where visitors can enjoy the waters of Nantucket Sound to the North and the Atlantic to the South.

Venturing out on the sea holidaymakers can have a go at surfcasting, hire a boat or a windsurfer.

Unspoilt by overt commercialisation, Nantucket Island is pretty much as nature intended, almost 50% of the Island is designated preserved and protected where natural habitats (plants and animals) wait to be explored.  Heralding the arrival of spring is the Daffodil Festival which sees the planting of three million blooms to celebrate the arrival of the season.

A guided tour of the Island will ensure that nothing passes the visitor by but renting a bike and taking to the cobblestone pathways is also a good way of discovering its history.

For a taste of the Island’s history as a once prosperous whaling port, explore the Nantucket Whaling Museum which includes the startling sight of a 47-foot sperm whale skeleton.  Many remnants of the American Civil War still stand, a magnet for those interested in a time when the Union was under threat and the scourge of war hung over the Island.

And for beer lovers, a trip to Cisco Brewers is not to be missed...

Able to accommodate all manner of getaways - romantic, naturalistic, athletic, artistic, and historic – Nantucket Island is a world where life goes by at a chosen pace.
