Apple is currently involved in a number of lawsuits, one of which has now come to an end with the result falling in favour of the iPhone creators. The initial lawsuit filed by Apple claimed that HTC had ignored 10 of their patents, but since HTC has been judged to be at fault on only one of these, they are seeing the judgement as a victory.
The ruling by the U.S International Trade Commission (ITC) means that all HTC products in violation of the patent will no longer be sold in the U.S as of April 2012. HTC stated that the judgement is related to a small feature called data tapping that allows users to grab information from messages or notifications, such as a phone number and use it.
HTC plans to completely remove the user interface feature from their phones as soon as possible but with HTC products continuing to gain popularity, the ruling will have only a minimal impact on the company’s standing in the U.S.
