Watch the sunburn!

Watch the sunburn! Britons looking forward to a holiday this summer may want to pack extra sun protection lotion following the results of a new survey published this week.

The poll, commissioned by AfterBURN Sunburn Rescue Gel, found that we may not be taking as good care as we should when exposed to strong sunshine in foreign climates.

Indeed, 68 per cent of respondents said the best way to recognise who is British when on holiday was to look out for people with sunburn.

Worryingly, the study also showed that 40 per cent of Brits use below the minimum recommended sun protection factor of 12, while one in five already suffer from premature ageing as a result of sun-damage to their skin.

Many people also rated the success of their holiday on the level of tan they had achieved.

In related news, the State Meteorology Bureau in Turkey stated that the temperature on Wednesday (June 25th) was 33 degrees C in Istanbul, the highest temperature ever recorded in June, with similar temperatures affecting much of the country.

Wearing protective clothing, including hats, is recommended by experts as the best way to avoid sunburn, which could lead to malignant melanomas and skin cancer.
