Long-haul holidays "hot" for Easter breaks

Long-haul holidays "hot" for Easter breaks People considering going on holiday over the Easter break may decide on going to far-off destinations as opposed to choosing city breaks, it has been claimed.

Going further afield for the Easter holidays may appeal to families as well as individuals, according to Thomas Cook.

School holidays allow families to go to destinations that are further away so that they can take advantage of the guaranteed good weather and early summer sun, the travel agent has said.

Traditionally, places like Paris, Rome and Barcelona are places that people would choose to visit; however, now people are more likely to opt for long-haul trips.

However, a spokesperson for the organisation commented: "Going further afield - Egypt, South Africa and Thailand are definite hot spots."

People thinking of jetting off to somewhere exotic may choose to opt for a Goa holiday in India, or a Seychelles holiday, where hot weather and beautiful beaches lie in store for those who want to beat the winter blues.

The cost of the average holiday increased to £2,376 last Easter, compared with £1,533 in 2006, according to figures from the Travel Counsellors.
