Holidays 'causing rows' among British couples

Holidays 'causing rows' among British couples A new survey has found that British people may not be enjoying their holidays as much as they should - in fact they are spending their two weeks in the sun falling out with their partners.

According to dating website Match.com, which carried out a survey of 1,000 people, the combination of spare time and nothing pressing to do is having a negative effect on many couples.

One quarter of women said they thought their partners were tight-fisted and should spend more, while almost half of couples simply refused to compromise with each other at all while on holiday.

A further bone of contention was work, with 25 per cent of women feeling their partners work too much, while the same proportion of men said they think their partners are not motivated enough.

In fact, things have got so bad for some couples that they called it quits while abroad - 19 per cent of Scots, 16 per cent of Londoners and 16 per cent of people from the north-east said they had resorted to doing this, with only people from the south coast reporting that it had never happened to them.

However, for anyone who wants to hear some happier holiday news, Peter Staddon of the British Insurance Brokers' Association recently said that more couples are now combining their holidays with their wedding.

He remarked that this could cut costs, as well as avoid the unreliable British weather.
