Expectant mums 'worried about travel cover'
A new study has revealed that more women would opt to go on romantic holidays with their partners while pregnant if it wasn't for confusion about insurance cover.Insurance provider Essential Travel said that four out of five women would choose these so-called babymoons, but may be worried that their travel cover does not extend to their condition.
Stuart Bensusan of the firm said that the majority of women need not worry about this, as pregnancy is not classed as a medical condition and as such, will be covered as long as the expectant mother is back in the UK within two months of the due delivery date.
Additionally, he said, emergency expenses will be covered provided that the woman is not expected to give birth within eight weeks of the start of the trip, during the trip or within eight weeks of the end of the holiday.
Mr Bansusan remarked that, with some exceptions, 99 per cent of pregnant women will be covered by a standard travel insurance policy.
"Expectant mums can relax and make the most of a much-needed break before the big day," he concluded.
According to Babycentre.co.uk, people opting to go on a babymoon should opt for comfort over adventure and should choose destinations that can be reached via relatively short flights to minimise discomfort.
