Don't jeopardise your holiday by lacking insurance
With the summer break rapidly approaching, many young people will no doubt be looking forward to going on holiday without their parents for the fist time. However, one financial services provider has warned both parents and young people not to put themselves in unnecessary danger by failing to take out travel insurance.
Tina Shortle, marketing director of swiftcover.com, said that teens heading on holidays abroad should bear some simple things in mind as well as taking out a suitable policy.
Tips to consider include avoiding too much alcohol - since accidents that happen while under the influence can invalidate policies - as well as reconsidering renting a vehicle, because most insurers do not cover travel on scooters or motorbikes.
"Your first parent-free holiday can be a great experience, but because of their age and new found freedom, fledgling holidaymakers can be one of the most at risk groups," Ms Shortle commented.
"We are encouraging teens to be prepared and stay safe so their holiday can be one to remember for all the right reasons."
A recent survey carried out by price comparison website moneysupermarket.com found that 14 per cent of British holidaymakers never take out travel insurance.
