Brits 'like life abroad, but miss home'

Brits 'like life abroad, but miss home' Britons prefer life abroad, according to new research.

More and more people living in the UK opt to move to a foreign country due to life pressures experienced in the UK, according to Natwest International Personal Banking (IPB).

A study by the bank in conjunction with the Centre for Future Studies that questioned British expats now living abroad, showed that 90 per cent are better off financially, 81 per cent said they were healthier and 91 per cent claimed to be happier.

Among the top countries found in the survey to be popular among expats were Canada, New Zealand, Portugal and Italy, according to the report.

Head of Natwest IPB David Isley, said: "The chance to work or retire abroad to a place in the sun has long been a desire for many Brits and it is interesting to note for those considering the move to wider shores that the grass can indeed be greener on the other side."

However, many of the people surveyed said they felt homesick some or all of the time, with 76 per cent stating that they missed the UK. People miss their families and friends, but some people even claimed to miss the pub and British traditions.

So people who feel the need to get away from it all may like to splash out on a luxury holiday instead.

Why not go for a Barbados holiday or a Maldives holiday to make the most of the sun and sand before returning back to good old Blighty?

A recent study showed that destinations featured in films are popular among Britons.
