Britons choose Bermuda as their dream destination

Britons choose Bermuda as their dream destination A new survey has revealed some interesting insights into the holidaying habits of the British public.

According to online survey company Ciao Surveys, who carried out the research, involving 1,005 respondents, 58.5 per cent of Britons take either one or two trips abroad for pleasure each year.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, most said that they went on holiday in order to see some sunshine and to relax, and the majority of those surveyed would go abroad more often if they had more money and time.

Some of the next most popular pastimes were sightseeing and experiencing the local cuisine.

The most popular dream holiday destination proved to be the Bermuda Islands, with 23 per cent saying that they would like to holiday there, possibly due to its subtropical climate and pink sandy beaches.

Australia was found to be the most popular continent in general, with 24.8 per cent of respondents expressing a desire to visit there.

Meanwhile, a cosmopolitan 13.9 per cent cited New York as their ideal location for a city break.

A recent report from the Post Office found that holidaymakers' money could stretch further in the Big Apple in 2008 due to the weakness of the dollar, with the pound going approximately five per cent further this year than in 2007.
