LG Viewty to go digital

LG Viewty to go digital The LG Viewty has become the first mobile phone with DivX recording capabilities, it has been announced.

Last week, the makers of the popular mobile publicised the fact that they have teamed up with digital media company DivX to produce a phone that can record in the high-quality format.

This will enable users to achieve the same results with their mobile as they would with a video camera, according to LG, while the videos captured can be played back on any device that is compatible with DivX.

Dr Skott Ahn, of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications, said: "Users of the LG Viewty have come to expect innovation and quality.

"The addition of DivX recording capability to the Viewty will open up the media experience and enable our users to do more with the videos they capture, from sharing that content online to playing it back beyond the phone on a wide variety of devices."

Model LG-KU990, which encompasses the DivX capabilities, is the first of its kind, while the LG Viewty is already renowned for its great results with its five megapixel camera.

This news follows a recent agreement between DivX and Sony Pictures Television, which will enable online retailers to sell Sony Pictures titles in the DivX format.
