K580i memory cut for UK customers?

Consumers in the UK may be getting a worse deal than the rest of the world when they buy the Sony Ericsson K850i, it has been suggested.

According to Mobile Business magazine, the memory card that is shipped with the K850i to UK-based customers has less than half the power as that shipped elsewhere.

A memory card of one GB had been promised, but it would now appear that Sony Ericsson has opted not to offer this to everybody.

Where the packaging of the phone had stated that a one-GB card can be found within, a sticker is now pasted on to the box, detailing the lower spec.

Mobile Business claims that the lower auxiliary memory is a particular hindrance when it is considered that the K850i's camera is so demanding.

"With this powerful camera phone, memory is king, with its five-megapixel effort, stored file sizes are going to be on the large size," said the magazine.

The camera is perhaps the biggest selling point of the K850i. It comes complete with BestPic technology, which takes nine pictures in quick succession to ensure that the best possible snap is taken.

It also comes with an automatic lens cover, auto focus and xenon flash.
