Survey shows workplace misery

Survey shows workplace misery A survey carried out by a recruitment website has found that almost 70 per cent of people are miserable in their jobs and that one in two think about resigning on a daily basis.

The research, carried out by Caterer.com, showed that 43 per cent of people would even go so far as to say they dread waking up in the morning.

However, those in the hospitality sector were found to be the happiest in their jobs, with only 19 per cent saying they do not get any job satisfaction.

Ian Burke, spokesperson for Caterer.com, said: "I hope the latest statistics will bring a whole new, much-deserved reputation to the hospitality sector."

Retail, office-based staff and those in the labouring sector were least satisfied ,with only 7.17 per cent, 10.01 per cent and 11 per cent respectively able to say they are enthusiastic about their work.

In related news, a survey from HireScores.com has found that people are no longer jumping from job to job amid the current economic conditions.

Some 81 per cent of office workers said they were more likely to stay in a job now that they would have quit a year ago, due to a perceived difficulty in finding more work.
