Britons 'love their bodies'

Britons 'love their bodies' In today's image-obsessed world of airbrushing and plastic surgery, you may be forgiven for thinking that we are not happy with what nature has given us. However, the results of a new survey beg to differ.

Almost two-thirds of Britons who responded to research commissioned for Trinny and Susannah's television series The Great British Body said they are happy with their phsique.

Londoners were found to be the most body-content, with 42 per cent reporting that they would not change anything about themselves compared to a figure of 33 per cent nationwide.

However, only five per cent said they would describe Britain's national body shape as slim and 39 per cent of females said they would change their stomach if they could.

Presenter Susannah Constantine said that we should not necessarily aspire to be what we see in the media.

"When it comes to averages, if you don't match up to it, people nowadays are scared to be different. The world is so homogenised, everything is the same. And we're all living up to one ideal, but that's not the point, we are all different," she said.

Constantine and fellow presenter Trinny Woodall are to appear on television naked on a hillside with over 200 volunteers on Wednesday - in the final episode of the Great British Body - in a bid to encourage people to appreciate their bodies.
