Stars in their shoes?

Stars in their shoes? If you're someone who checks your star signs religiously, then a new range of shoes designed in India could be right up your street.

Swati Mehrotra, a bespoke shoe designer, has created a range of shoes which can be customised according to the astrological background of the person purchasing them, reports the Thaindian Times.

Sumit Kumar Hinduja, one of Mehrotra's consultants, commented that the new range is particularly relevant because feet are "the base" of the body and need to "be taken care of" astrologically.

"Every horoscope gives a lucky number, auspicious colour and auspicious wood to carry. Using this concept in mind, the shoes would be manufactured and made in the shubh muhurat [auspicious time] as per the astrological parameter under our strict supervision," Ms Mehrotra commented.

However, anyone wishing to purchase the new designer shoes will have to pay in the region of £238 for the privilege. There is no news as yet when they will be available outside India.

In related news, it was announced earlier in 2008 that a shoe designer in Japan had launched a range of footwear with a GameBoy embedded in the heel. Mainly aimed at young girls, the shoes enable gaming on the go to become easier.
