Star studded shoes the 'new hot choice for designers' Designers are increasingly naming their shoes after celebrities, it has emerged.

According to a Guardian report, more and more designers are picking celebrity names for their new ranges.

Luella Bartley recently named her new tote after supermodel Giselle, while Calvin Klein chose the name Suri for his new range of shoes after the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

Giambattista Valli, the Italian designer, paid homage to Posh Spice in naming his Victoria shoe and the Amy shoe by Jonathan Kelsey takes its name from British singer Amy Winehouse.

Kelsey told the Guardian: "I wanted to name my shoes and as it was my first collection I named everything with the letter A.

"I chose the names of girls who I wanted to wear them - and Amy wore them to death."

Celebrity fashion is predictably dictating the shoe choices of women in the UK, with catwalk heels in particular being a popular option, according to Harvey Nicols' recent sales reports, which show a 15 per cent increase in sales this season.

Red carpet stars do not rest at just wearing shoes, however. Many also like to design them. Natalie Portman, for example launched her range of vegan and ethically produced shoes this year.
