Shoe styles 'come out of a deep sleep'
If you want to follow the hottest trends for shoes this summer, it's time to go crazy, according to one fashionista. In an appearance on the US programme The Early Show yesterday (April 1st), Lucky magazine's special projects director Allyson Waterman showed off some of the season's new fashions - and they are not for the faint-hearted, reports CBS News.
According to the magazine, styles will be extreme, bold and unique, with a variation to suit every situation and colour will rule the roost.
Wedges will have cut-out sections in a nod to the heel-less shoes Antonio Berardi recently unveiled. Edgy brogues will be the shoes to wear with confidence and gladiator sandals with multiple straps will be perfect for summer days, said Waterman.
Hot on the heels of the latest fashions as ever, Victoria Beckham was among the first celebrities to order a pair of the Antonio Beradi shoes, which even the designer admits forces the wearer to be "almost on tiptoe", according to the Fashion Police.
Doctors have warned buyers against the idea, with one quoted as saying: "The front of the foot ends up taking the weight of the bulk of your body, which can in turn do damage to the tendons in your legs by shortening them."
However, at 5.5 inches (13.97cm) high and costing $3,600 (£1,816), the strange design may well be out of reach for the average high-street shopper anyway.
