Red carpet styles to 'return glamour to Hollywood'
This year's Oscars are set to be alight with colour - and of course, we're not talking about the silver screen. The famous red carpet is expected to shimmer with a glorious palette from reds and browns to tangerines and yellows, Patty Fox, the official fashion consultant for this year's ceremony, told AFP.
Her aim with the stars of the past year's movies is "to return glamour to Hollywood", presenting designers with the perfect opportunity to showcase their best gowns and shoes.
Neil Lane, a designer from Martin Katz, claims that jewellery will be big on the fashion agenda for celebrities, according to AFP.
"Long earrings and bracelets and perhaps some long necklaces that we haven't seen in a while," he said.
One celebrity is expected to dazzle the crowds with a $4 million (£2 million) ring, although he is keeping people in suspense as to the identity of the person who's finger will be glittering that night.
Past outfits have seen stunning ensembles on the red carpet, such as the icy blue Christian Dior dress worn by Charlize Theron, which consisted of over 300 yards of fabric to make up a stunning train, while Bjork's unusual swan dress caused a shockwave among the Hollywood community at the 73rd Academy Awards.
