McCartney 'highlights need for passion in fashion'
With the release of Stella McCartney's new range of shoes at Paris Fashion Week yesterday, fancy footwear has once again hit the headlines for having an ethical twist.Following the recent launch of Natalie Portman's vegan range of shoes, McCartney has highlighted the necessity of fashion and passion in a woman's wardrobe.
Having designed a range of accessories free from animal products, the vegetarian designer is bringing back materials that were once looked down upon by fashion lovers, according to the Times.
McCartney has claimed that the use of leather is a "throwback to earlier, harder times - not a luxury," highlighting a recent trend within the fashion world to opt for ethical, organic and environmentally-friendly clothing.
"Stella McCartney proves you can have a look that kills without killing," Peta's US senior vice president.
The success of her ranges is shown by the Beatles star's daughter being named Designer of the Year last November.
McCartney teamed up with sports clothing giant Adidas in 2004 to produce sportswear that was claimed to be practical as well as stylish.
