Clutch handbags 'in this season'

This spring handbags are as important as ever for a woman's wardrobe.

The oversized bags worn on the arms of celebrities such as Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham will continue to be a hit, as well as totes and hobos; however, according to one website it will be the oversized clutch bag that will take centre stage.

SheKnows.com has predicted that these handbags are set to be the 'in thing' this season, something which was confirmed on the red carpet at the Academy Awards on Sunday (February 24th), with Hilary Swank and Amy Adams holding onto their strapless bags as they attended the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Julie Christie wowed the crowds with her $100,000 (£50,000) Lana Marks Cleopatra designer clutch bag.

Bold colours are expected to be a hit too, with shades such as magenta, mango and bright greens and yellows being "the season's hottest shades", SheKnows.com claimed.

"This spring looks to be one of the most exciting and colourful seasons we've had in a long time, with a style to suit everyone's personality," the website stated.

To complement the handbags, ladies should go for similarly vibrant colours in their jewellery and add personal charms to spice up outfits, according to the site.
