'Camileon shoes' spread in popularity

'Camileon shoes' spread in popularity Anyone who has experienced the inconvenience of having to change between trainers and smart shoes for the office commute may be interested in a new product that is growing in popularity in America.

Camileon Heels are a range of adjustable shoes which allow the wearer to alternate between a 3.25" heel to a 1.5" heel, making walking easier on the feet.

A number of styles are available, including pumps, slingbacks and mules, although it is not yet known if there are plans to introduce them in the UK.

The design was created by brother and sister David and Donna Handel, after David noticed smartly-dressed businesswomen walking the streets in unsightly trainers.

A locking mechanism is located within the heel - eliminating the fear of the shoe changing in height while being worn - and a steel rod runs through the heel, meaning that it will not break in a similar way to ordinary stilettos.

"Camileon Heels not only represent an amazing breakthrough in footwear technology; they also are contemporary in feel and fit, beautifully designed and a welcome advancement for women who have suffered in heels far too long," the company website comments.

Earlier this month, it was reported in the Thaindian Times that Swati Mehrotra, a bespoke shoe designer, has created a range of shoes which can be customised according to the astrological background of the person purchasing them.
