Wayne and Coleen's wedding venue revealed

A luxurious Italian hilltop villa is set to play host to Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin's wedding, according to reports.

Villa Durazzo, a 330-year-old building located in the coastal resort of Santa Margherita Ligure on the Italian Riveria is where the celebrity couple will exchange vows as part of their wedding ceremony.

Wayne and Coleen had hoped to keep their wedding abroad a secret by naming the venue as simply a 'province of Genoa' in their banns at Crewe registry office but the operation was soon uncovered.

A source at Santa Margherita town hall said: "We have been asked to keep Villa Durazzo free for a wedding service for two British citizens, one of whom is a famous footballer. It's actually proving to be a big headache."

Villa Durazzo was also the venue of Rod Stewart and fourth wife Penny Lancaster's wedding abroad last summer.

Research by the Daily Mail revealed that the average cost of a wedding is £20,273, a rise of more than £5,000 compared with five years ago.
