SATC girls thrill London crowds
Thousands of Sex And The City fans took to the streets of London last night to celebrate the opening of the new film at Leicester Square.Four years after the original series ended, the new film picks up the threads of the four New Yorkers' lives and is hotly-anticipated by die-hard followers, especially after Cynthia Nixon let slip that Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie suffers an "earth-shattering" loss.
Parker and Nixon, along with the film's other stars Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall, looked overwhelmed on the red carpet as hundreds of the mainly female audience screamed "we want Carrie" as they jostled for autographs.
Parker stayed true to Carrie's eclectic style in a green prom dress and black evening shoes by Alexander McQueen.
Meanwhile Cattrall wore a red dress by Vivienne Westwood, Nixon dared to bare in a black Calvin Klein number which was slashed to the navel and Davis looked the most demure in a pink vintage frock.
"On nights like this, it's awfully nice to be able to wear a beautiful dress. There's really such a delight in it. It's an indulgence," said Parker, according to the Telegraph.
However, many people were reported to be unhappy that the premiere was not staged in New York, which is arguably the show's fifth star.
Among them was Mario Cantone, who plays Charlotte's friend Anthony Marentino, who told Bang! Showbiz that the city would have been the obvious choice for the event.
