Reese 'runs a tight ship'

Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal may not have realised he was dating Monica from Friends, but it certainly seems that way, if recent reports are anything to go by.

According to America's star magazine, Gyllenhaal - who moved into girlfriend Reese Witherspoon's LA home last month - is now subject to some rather strict house rules.

A source told the magazine that the actor must take out the rubbish when the bin is three-quarters full and must not put his shoes on the coffee table.

In addition, he has to avoid cursing at all times.

"Jake used to swear like a sailor, but not anymore. If he does, he has to apologise," the unnamed source said.

However, it seems he is taking it firmly in his stride, having apparently disregarded hitting the bars and clubs in favour of family life.

"He'd much rather stay home, make popcorn and watch a movie than step foot in a club," the source ascertained.

Gyllenhaal is perhaps best known for playing sensitive yet troubled characters in films such as Zodiac, the Good Girl and Brokeback Mountain, for which he won an Academy Award for best supporting actor.

Witherspoon, meanwhile, is set to will take on the horror genre in 2009 for the first time as a star of Our Family Troubles, which she will produce in peartnership with Jennifer Simpson, co-producer of Legally Blonde 2.
