Glamour celebrates women of the year
Glamour magazine has held its annual Women of the Year awards in London, it has been revealed. The winners were all voted for by the magazine's readers and included a host of Britain's most famous faces.
Keeley Hawes was named best UK TV actress for her role in sci-fi drama Ashes to Ashes and received her award from costar Philip Glenister.
Best film actress went to Kate Beckinsale who is now as famous in Hollywood as she is back in Blighty.
Hayden Panettiere won best newcomer, while Gossip singer Beth Ditto battled across a slippery floor in high-heeled shoes to collect her best international musician gong.
The Spice Girls won the category for best band following their hugely-successful world tour earlier this year.
Lily Allen received the editor's special award, which Glamour's Jo Elvin commented on.
"With reams of column inches to match her considerable talents, no Women of the Year lineup could be complete without the one and only Lily Allen," she said.
However, it appears that Allen got a bit carried away with the celebrations of her win and ended up being escorted home safely by her little brother, Alfie.
She has since apologised on her blog pages, telling fans her behaviour "wasn't cool".
