Cody rejects $1 million Oscars shoes

Cody rejects $1 million Oscars shoes Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody refused to wear a pair of $1 million (£500,000) shoes for the Academy Awards yesterday (February 24th), claiming that it would have been a publicity stunt.

The former stripper was selected by footwear designer Stuart Weitzman to wear his diamond-encrusted Retro Rose shoes, according to the Associated Press.

However, Cody decided to opt for a pair of simple flat gold shoes to go with her Dior leopard print dress on the red carpet.

Glamour once again hit Hollywood at this year's event, as actresses went for feathers and jewels.

Off-the-shoulder gowns were popular, as well as deep reds. Heidi Klum and Anne Hathaway donned stunning scarlet dresses, while Penelope Cruz and Jennifer Garner, among others, opted for darker dresses.

Cameron Diaz and Renee Zellweger went for the off-the-shoulder look, suggesting that this may be the next big thing for ladies' dresses.

Cody took away the award for Best Original Screenplay for Juno, while Marion Cotillard won Best Actress for her role in La Vie en Rose.
