China venture 'could earn Moss millions'

China venture 'could earn Moss millions' Kate Moss could amass as much as £25 million if reported plans to launch her Topshop collections in China go ahead.

It has been widely reported that owner and business tycoon Sir Philip Green is in talks with officials in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong, with a view to opening stores aimed at young people in the cities.

Chinese teenagers are renowned for their desire to keep up with Western fashions and it is thought the venture could be a moneyspinner for both the brand and Moss.

The Croydon-born model was paid around £3 million to launch a range of clothes inspired by her wardrobe in Britain and sources estimate launching the ranges in China could earn her between £15 million and £25 million.

"For the Chinese teenager with an eye on Western fashions, Kate Moss is pretty much the coolest person on the planet," an unnamed source said.

Moss, who is currently holidaying in Ibiza, launched her collection in 2007 at the flagship Topshop on London's Oxford Road.

Items range from skinny jeans and mini-dresses to shoes, bags and belts.

The British fashion press has widely praised the clothes, however, gurus Trinny and Susannah argued that the designs were suitable for only the skinniest of women.
