Britney comeback dominates MTV Video awards

Britney comeback dominates MTV Video awards Troubled singer Britney Spears has hit the headlines for all the right reasons following an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards last night (September 7th).

The 26-year-old swept the board, collecting the first three "moonman" statuettes of her career for her Piece of Me video.

Although she did not perform at the ceremony, she took to the stage to personally collect the accolades, thanking God and her fans and remarking that the recognition was unexpected.

"I'm in shock right now. Thank you so much. Thank you for all the love," she said.

Spears was lambasted by the press following her appearance at the same ceremony last year, in which she performed a badly-mimed song and appeared unsteady on her feet.

However, she seemed back to her old self at this year's show, with support even rife among her fellow stars.

"I love you. I miss you. And it's so good to see you," Paris Hilton told her as she presented the award for best pop video.

Other winners included the Pussycat Dolls, Linkin Park and Chris Brown.
Last year's ceremony was dominated by R&B star Rihanna, who won video of the year for her smash-hit Umbrella.
