Ashlee and Pete 'not expecting a baby'

Only days after they announced their engagement, Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz has been forced to issue a statement to say that he and fiancee Ashlee Simpson are not expecting a child.

Wentz, 28, was said to have been furious by the "crazy" rumours, which were initially reported in US Weekly and the stateside version of OK! magazine.

He wrote an email to MTV to deny any further speculation and to condemn what he said has become a "Hollywood witch hunt".

"This is all news to me. I can't wait for the story about how I'm really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover […] we're engaged, that's true, and happy about it," he wrote.

Singer Simpson, 23, and Wentz announced their engagement last Thursday, although they have been romantically linked since 2006.

Wentz is no stranger to the tabloid spotlight - naked pictures of him were leaked and posted onto a celebrity gossip website in March 2006, a reference to which is made in the video for the 2007 single This Ain't A Scene, It's an Arms Race.
