A man who was born a woman who then became a man gives birth to baby

Man gives birth

Tearing up the gender rule book, a British transgender man has given birth to (a baby) despite having a sex change operation which one must assume was not entirely successful.

Transgender support group the Beaumont Society said the man, who is said to be in his thirties, gave birth last year following advice he solicited from the Society.

"We had a general inquiry" said Joanna Darrell, from the Beaumont Society. "The society, all it does is provide information and acts as an information hub for people to find data about specific things, and we are able to refer them to more specialist organisations.

"He came for some information and I referred him to GIRES."

GIRES, as Joanna explains, is the Gender Identity Research and Education Society - a charity that “provides education, based on research into gender identity and intersex issues, to help improve the lives of those affected by the issues.”

Although a transgender birth is not unique in a global context as a number of men are known to have conceived overseas, Joanne is confident that this is a UK first.

"This is probably unique, in the two years that I have been a member of the society this is the only one that I have been able to refer on," she said.
