Victoria gets ready to make Britain ‘Great’ once again

Beckham to make Britain great again

Despite her unflattering appearance last week at the launch of the “GREAT” Britain Campaign in New York where she looked thin and gaunt rather than glamour and chic, Victoria Beckham is indeed set to put the ‘Great’ back into Britain having agreed to become an international ambassador for the tourism body VisitBritain.

Announced during New York Fashion Week, her role as a “GREAT” Ambassador is to help promote Britain around the world and ensure the spotlight is on the UK in this year of the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games, and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Focusing on the “Fashion is GREAT” part of the campaign, Victoria will of course be able to call on the expertise she has gained from producing her own ready-to-wear collection which, we are reliably informed, is stocked in over 300 stores around the world.

And taking advantage of her film acting skills will be a short movie in which Victoria will tell the world why Britain is so great – this year at least.

According to VisitBritain, “British fashion is a large contributor to the UK’s international tourism industry, which is the country’s third-largest earner of foreign exchange.”

The tourism body’s Chief Executive Sandie Dawe said: “The U.S is our most important market in terms of visitor spend, with both shopping and fashion ranking high amongst Americans’ interests when they visit Britain.”
