Little Mix poised for World Domination

Little MIx

As if the last 48 hours haven’t been earth shattering enough, Little Mix, fresh from making history by becoming the first group ever to win the X Factor, have now taken the bold, some would say foolhardy, step of announcing that they plan to write their own material.

Given that their every move so far has been rehearsed and planned to the ninth degree, it is interesting to speculate what has prompted this early bid for ‘artistic freedom.’

Perhaps it was the enlightening comment made by Louis Walsh, currently the longest serving X Factor Judge, when he excitedly blabbed at the tail end of the final programme: “Girls, you’ve done everything you’ve been told to do so far (and) deserve to win this programme.”

Although compared to other music legends such as Girls Aloud, the Spice Girls and the Saturdays,   the Little Mix girls have made it clear that they desire not to be ‘clones’ but to retain all of their originality.  One of their number, Perrie Edwards, told BBC Radio 1 that they “can’t wait to start writing our own stuff and get our album out there.”

The desire for an album will presumably follow the obligatory Christmas single that, if the public continues to follow the template established over the last six years or so, will undoubtedly be this year’s festive chart topper.

And if you can take anymore Little Mix gossip even at this early stage, the aforementioned Perrie Edwards has denied a romance with Zayn Malik of boy band One Direction fame.

Pity, as that really would have been something to tune in for.
