Bye, Bye Batman

Batman fans the world over will undoubtedly be shedding a tear today following the news that Batman, or to be more precise, actor Christian Bale, has decided to hang up his cape and take his leave of Gotham City.

Having completed filming of his third Batman movie – “The Dark Knight Rises” – Bale has confirmed that he will step down from the role, as will the film’s Director Christopher Nolan.

Bale said: "I wrapped a few days ago so that will be the last time I'm taking that cowl off. Everything's finished. That will be the end of that Batman era."

Bale and Nolan fist collaborated on the Batman franchise with 2005’s “Batman Begins” then followed it up with “The Dark Knight” in 2008 which earned over a billion dollars worldwide.

Film fans can console themselves with the fact that although both star and director have stated their desire to move on, Batman himself is unlikely to end his crime fighting days, especially when there is still a Batcave full of money to be made.
