What Festival?!

For us here at Tights Please, and I’m sure many others would agree, being invited to the 67^th Venice Film Festival would involve an outrageously expensive dress, fabulous shoes and a huge diva temper tantrum when the false eyelashes wouldn’t stay glued on! However, it seems for stunning Jessica Alba, none of this applies; she arrived at the Venice Film Festival in a denim jacket, a grey vest dress, loafers and opaque black tights, in this rig out she’d have struggled to looked dressed up at V Festival! This isn’t to say she didn’t look incredible, just unexpectedly under dressed.

Mad Men Waists!

Japan, the place to be?

With there being a 38% increase in visitors to Japan since 2009, what is it that appeals to people so much?…Japan is known for mixing ultra modern with traditional. With contemporary glass sky scrapers mixed with ancient temples, creating a burst of culture and history. This is possibly what has attracted 15600 visitors this February with an increase of 4295 visitors on last year.

Japan offers cities like Tokyo, Kyoto and Nara all with different experiences and tasters of Japanese culture. Tokyo is perfect for city breaks with plenty of touristy site seeing activities available visit Tokyo’s biggest and busiest fish market Tsukiji fish market and browse and learn about the huge variety of fish on offer. If the smell of fish gets too much for you, you could always visit the Koishikawa Korakuen landscape gardens, wander around these gardens take in the beauty and people watch. To get a bird’s eye view of the capital you could also go up Tokyo tower which is based on the Eiffel tower and see the city in a different way.

If you fancy experiencing some Japans traditional culture and history the city of Kyoto has many temples such as the Kinkakuji temple covered in gold, shrines and museums which showcase Japans rich heritage.

Outside of the cities Japan has a number of natural wonders from the coral reefs of the Okinawa islands, ski destinations such as Niseko and beach destinations in the south.

Japan offers the lot, culture, history, shopping, dining skiing and beach destinations, is it really any wander it’s grown in popularity?

Motorola Milestone 2-Tethering, HD and DNLA

The Motorola Milestone is a great phone, but it didn’t exactly set the world on fire sales wise. When it launched the world was touch screen crazy and the Qwerty keyboard seem like an anachronism. But now that a hoard of consumers have really experienced life with a touch screen smartphone perhaps the market is ready for the Milestone 2.

The big features aside from the keyboard are 720p video on the 3.7in touch screen, built in DNLA for sharing video, audio and pictures via wifi to other DNLA devices,  1GHz cpu, 8 Gb of onboard memory and support for 32Gb sd cards and, it has android 2.2  with all it’s voice search goodness.

Apparently the Milestone 2 is capable of tethering – sharing it’s 3g/HSDPA broadband connection with other devices, like a laptop, over WiFi. This sounds great, but I would be amazed if any of the UK networks will ship the Milestone 2 with this feature still enabled, after all they want to sell you a separate mobile broadband dongle for your laptop.
